It is the keynote of their songs, stories and folklore. The negro dialect laconic rambling full of repetitions and bounding in curious elusions which give an unexpected quaintness to the simplest statements. - Stephen C. Foster has aptly express sentiments of the average darky in his beautiful song "The Old Folks at Home." - After a northern tourist's visit to the Sunny South he is more able to appreciate the words in the above refrain. unbekannt unbekannt (?)
